More info

Silent Night

An opera in two acts by composer Kevin Puts and librettist Mark Campbell, based on the 2005 film Joyeux Noël.

“Mr. Puts’s music was captivating from the start... it made even a Mahler symphony — something raw and searing in its own right — seem almost peripheral, a rare feat.”

- The New York Times

Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Kevin Puts has established himself as one of America’s leading composers, gaining international acclaim for his “plush, propulsive” music (The New York Times), and described by Opera News as “a master polystylist.”

He has been commissioned and performed by leading organizations around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, Carnegie Hall, Opera Philadelphia, Minnesota Opera, and many more, and has collaborated with world-class artists such as Renée Fleming, Yo-Yo Ma, Yannick Nezet-Seguin, Marin Alsop, among others.

Choral

Fleda Brown’s beautiful If I Were A Swan is a poem I had originally intended as part of my large, multi-movement choral work To Touch the Sky (Nine Songs for Unaccompanied Chorus on Texts by Women); ultimately I decided it would succeed better on its own.
